There are many options for home gym power racks on the market to fit garages, basements, and any other room in between.

Some are heavy-duty and feature modular attachments. Others are more budget-conscious, enabling you to go light on your wallet while going heavy in the weightroom.

Editor's pick: SML-2 Rogue 90" Monster Lite Squat Stand

If you're looking for the best all-round power rack, look no further.

The Rogue SML-2 bills itself as a squat stand, but don't let it kid you, this thing is versatile enough to do just about every barbell exercise you can think of.

By utilizing two 3x3” 11-gauge steel uprights, the SML-2 is compact enough to be put against a wall. I've personally used this power rack for years and I can testify to its remarkable sturdiness and durability.

Weighing in at a hair over 200 lbs including the optional safety spotter arms, this thing feels like it was forged by Thor himself. I routinely load the arms with well over 300 pounds no problem.

Olympic weightlifting purists may shake their head in disdain and condescendingly tell you to "lrn 2 dump weights." If you're home alone and want to bench press or do Romanian deadlifts there's no real substitute for a good set of catch bars.

If the 90" height of this rack is an issue, Rogue offers a 70" version.

Best value: HulkFit Multi-Function Adjustable Power Rack

Constructed with 12 gauge steel and a capacity of 800 pounds, the HulkFit power rack is more than adequate for most weightlifters' needs.

Weighing 110 pounds it's a little leaner than the Rogue SML-2, so it comes with "weight holders" which serve the purpose of providing stability.

As an added bonus, this rack comes with dip bars.

Most compact: Rogue RML-90SLIM Rack

When space is a premium, the RML-90SLIM can't be beat. This power rack stands a mere 14" away from the wall its mounted to.

If you want to be further away from the wall (for example to do kipping pull-ups) Rogue offers a retractible version called the RML-3W Fold Back Wall Mount Rack. When installed properly, it’s just as sturdy as the rest of Rogue’s Monster Lite line.

If you plan on using spotter arms, Rogue recommends you consult a contractor to ensure the wall can handle the load.

Which power rack should you buy?

If you have the cash and the real estate, the SML-2 Rogue 90" Monster Lite is a great pick.

If you're looking for a budget rack that will perform nearly just as well as the SML-2, go with the HulkFit Multi-Function Adjustable Power Rack.

If your significant other balks at the idea of dedicating a whole room so you can do 'curls for the girls', appease her with the Rogue RML-90SLIM wall-mounted rack.
